A Servant Like Jesus Book Review

Let me start that the 5 star rating came from my kids, not just me...

First of all Dan Sharp is a great illustrator, his characters are beautiful, bright and vibrant! Perfect for a kid's book. The story that Ms. Mancini had brought to life here in "A Servant Like Jesus" is a cute sweet learning story for all children. We used it during story time at school, which was perfect because it's about a classroom. My 7 year old learned to read this year, and when he saw the book in my stack of workbooks he 1. asked if we could start with that book, 2. asked if he could read, 3. started reading before I was completely ready to start school today.

LET ME TELL YOU WHAT! I wanted to cry because he has been fighting reading for a year and a half, so for him to give me 3 amazing surprises all based around a book I could cry. He loved the characters, (especially the Crab Charlie, because my 7 year old LOVES crabs), he loved the story, loved the message about Jesus (since we're celebrating Christmas right now, and he's looking for more ways to be like Jesus), and best of all loved going back through the whole story to find the hidden Bibles on each page. In fact he re-read the book after school was over just because he loved this book so much! To show you how amazing this miracle is, he has currently only read short level 1 readers with 10 or less words per page. This book is 32 pages long with an average of 12+ words per page.

My 10 year old loved this too, we all took turns reading together which was a great family experience! It was a reading without tears, without being angry or stressed or frustrated by any of us. My kids already want me to start looking for more books like this, so Ms. Lee Ann Mancini please keep writing more!

To comply with the Federal Trade Commision's regulations, I must mention as part of every review because of BookCrash, that the publisher has provided me with a complimentary copy of the book, through BookCrash, in exchange for an honest non biased review.

A Stranger for Christmas book Review

A Stranger for ChristmasA Stranger for Christmas by Carol Lynn Pearson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Two years ago my Mother-in-Law introduced me to an amazingly inspirational Christmas Tradition. She buys a new Christmas book each year to read during the month of December, leading up to Christmas. I love that idea! Well last year I found another fun but wonderful Christmas tradition of having 25 Christmas stories wrapped in a box, and each night before bed, my children open a book and we'll read it together. For some reason this year I just CAN'T WAIT for Christmas. So during the summer I went to a book store and bought a bunch of Christmas books for myself. A Stranger for Christmas is one of those books.

Let me tell you, this is a very fast read, in fact I read it in 30 minutes while my children were eating lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Yet, despite the amount of pages, what you get out of this short little book will stick with you for so much longer. The author did a marvelous job of bringing her characters alive on the pages. Each of those sweet and sassy ladies are so unique and classy in their own ways. The mission they explore is one that each of us should tap into, especially during the holiday season, not just for Christmas, but why not for Thanksgiving too! Maybe even Halloween too, how can you be more of a friend to a stranger during these family centered holidays?

"Who would take in a stranger for Christmas?" That is the message of the Christ child...who would let the Son of God join them for Christmas, for His birth, for their life? I know Thanksgiving is right around the corner however I'm really feeling the need to fill my soul with the Christmas spirit right now. I'm truly enjoying all the Christmas books that I have to read.

FYI: curl up with a cozy blanket and a box of tissues!

Halloween Smoothie

This smoothie is a 3 step process!

Step 1:
1/4 cup Mandarin Oranges with juice (I used canned)
1 cup Pumpkin puree (chilled tastes better than room temp)
1/2 cup Carrots (steamed and chilled or canned because they're soft)
2 tsp Ground Flax Seed
1/4 cup Orange Juice
*Blend until smooth.  Then pour into 3 separate glasses.  This is the base color of the tri-colored smoothie.  Keep in fridge between steps.

Step 2:
1 cup Mango (fresh frozen)
1/2 cup Apple Sauce
1/4 cup Oatmeal (dry, minute oatmeal is my preferred)
1/3 cup Apple Juice
1/4 cup Orange Juice
1/2 cup Pineapples (fresh frozen)
*Blend until smooth.  Then pour on top of the orange base.  This will be the thickest layer, so it may sink slightly into the orange base, but most will stay on top.

Step 3:
1/3 cup Cauliflower (fresh steamed and chilled)
1/4 cup Cucumber (peeled, chilled, and chopped)
1 cup Coconut Vanilla Greek Yogurt
1/4 cup Almond milk
1 Banana (fresh)
*Blend until smooth.  This is the final layer. Pour on top of the yellow middle layer of smoothie.  It will be more creamy than the other 2 layers.  After enjoying the beautiful colors, I actually mixed all 3 layers together with my straw to enjoy them flavor mixture better.  Enjoy~

Swing Set

The other day I saw a really creative way to make a swing set.  It held 4 swings, and even had a little kiddie slide off to the side.  Our homeschool group went on a field trip to a Pumpkin/ Gourd patch which is run by the Grandparents of this family run business.  So here are the pictures of what I got.  This gives you an idea of how to build it.  In my mind, not only is this super creative, it saves space, and is actually easy enough to re-build for yourself.

Here is the layout of the Swing: 3 pieces of wood,
4 metal strips, 8 hooks, 4 swings, etc

Each of the pieces of wood are roughly this wide.
 So a 6x6 or an 8x8.
Here is the layout of the hooks for the 4 swings.

Here is the metal strip with screws bolting the top wood into place.

Pumpkin Peach Smoothie

 Pumpkin Peach Smoothie
1 Banana (fresh)
1/2 cup Cauliflower (freshly steamed and chilled)

1/2 cup Berry Aloe Juice
3 tsp Ground Flax Seed
1 scoop Chia Seeds
1/2 cup Peaches (fresh frozen)
3/4 cup Pumpkin puree'
1/4 cup Apple sauce
*Blend until smooth and creamy. Will be a thicker smoothie. The Chia Seeds make my pictures not as appealing in my own mind. But that's due to the type of blender that I have.. Makes 2 servings. I ate the second serving the next morning, and noticed a little bit of separation from the thick smoothie part and the juices I added. Easy to stir back together before drinking though.

Washington D. C.

Recently we went on a family trip to Washington D. C.  Aside from seeing the amazing monuments like the WWII, Lincoln, Washington, White House and Capital building; we were able to go see the Air and Space Museum, and the Natural History Museum.  It was really cool because our family love the Night at the Museum movies based in those museums.  Below are just a handful of the pictures I took, that as a teacher really stuck out to me to use for different unit lessons.  Enjoy~

New School Year

It's that time again, when school is back in session.  This year, I tried even harder than ever to be ready.  I spent months figuring out what books to buy for my students, researching which books would be best for each of my kids, because they learn so differently from each other.  I waited patiently until we could go school shopping with the kids to get the things we needed and that I wanted to make school better this year.  I was able to get most everything, there are still 2 items on my list that I wanted but haven't been able to find for the price that I want.  Weird, but you know what, that's life!

We have white boards, we have markers, we have paper, and note books and binders!  I now have a nice electric pencil sharpener, and a good strong  stapler, a good 3 hole punch.  As the teacher I have a plan and am totally ready to start having fun with my students.  Best of all, I'm excited to once again be teaching my own children, since we homeschool.

What are your teacher must haves?
What is your favorite part of going back to school?
Do you have any traditions for back to school fun?

Whispering to Horses Book Review

Whispering to Horses is a short quick book about the honest hard work of an Amish boy, an adult man who learns about his family history, and a broken promise of youth.  When you see how short this book is, you might think that it's a Young Adult book, or even a child's book but do not be fooled, this book though it's pages are few, pack lessons of life for all to read.

Matt is a young adult man who is trying to fix up his Grandfather's old farm house and yard so he can sell it and move to the big city so he can be closer to work and his lifestyle.  Next door to him is an Amish community, starting with a family of young children and a teenage boy.  This boy is observed by Matt has to always be working, working really hard with a pair of beautiful large horses and funny looking equipment.  The boy wonders why Matt's family sold off their farm land; while Matt wonders why this youth uses old fashioned contraptions for his yard work instead of new technology like tractors and such.

Matt's family is very much on the path of life that follows the famous saying "Keeping up with the Jones".  But as the story flows, you can see how open Matt's heart really is, and how a young boy who knows how to whisper to horses, use old equipment, and work hard can bring a light and happiness to a busy city guy.

I have to admit it's hard to write this review, because there are so many great lessons, but I don't want to put spoilers in my review.  Let me just say, this book is worth reading regardless of your age.  It's perfect for teachers to use as they teach their students History, cultures, and economics.  This is a great fast read for adults who want to ponder deep life questions Matt asks and discovers through his relationship with the boy and his Amish neighbors.  My nugget of suggestions is to really think about the lesson of :"Whispering to Horses" and how that can help you in your life.

Why is Great Grandma so Sad? Book Review

The topic of this book is one that is in a sense ironic as it is a few days after July 4th, where America celebrates it's continued freedom from the clutches of British rule, to be ruled by their own government, and to become their own free country just like that of many other great countries.  This book is about the Holocaust, given through the eyes of children who lived it.

Author Susan Heagy has given us, the readers, a very unique opportunity to learn about the Holocaust, by actually interviewing survivors, children who grew up during those rough, terrible times, who have had to live with the consequences of being of the Jewish faith during the reign of a tyrant who planned to take over the world.  Though the actual characters in this  story are fictional, her historical fiction novel is written in terms younger children may read and understand it clearly.

Many of us are lucky enough to know at least one Great Grandparent, while we were growing up, not everyone, but many.  They are a gift of the past given to us to learn from and to know and to love.  My own children have had the wonderful blessing to know their 2 Great Grandmother's, before they passed on.  Both of which were greatly affected by the wars, the great depression, military life, loosing of loved one's especially husbands and other such trials they had to live through.  But my children loved hearing their stories.  It brought the history of the USA into a more personal account and importance to us all.  In "Why is Great-Grandma so Sad?", a little girl is now old enough to see and question why her Great Grandmother is sad all the time, or has a sad demeanor about her.  As the little girls' mother sits down to tell her the story behind the sadness, she has to figure out a way to tell it so her 7 year old daughter understands.  What is revealed is a story of a young girl who is forced to leave her home with her family and move to a ghetto, then later to a concentration camp all under the rule of the Natzi army.  This Jewish refugee family has little to no food, must learn to survive bitter cold, and even as a child growing up from 7-11 before she is set free from the Natzi rule, she too must do her part to survive, to live, to stay alive.

We learn just how important family is and why it is also important to learn about our past, so we may better be grateful for our present, and so we may better change our future.

I honestly love this little book!  The art is wonderful, very stylized in a beautiful way that fully compliments the story.  At the back of the book, Susan Heagy gives us a few nuggets of gold in the form of actual survivor witnesses of their personal accounts of the Holocaust.  As a teacher in elementary school, I can see this book being a great resource for children to use during the time we study the Holocaust.

The author has given me the following information, that I feel inclined to share.  Each purchase of this book supports the Holocaust Survivors.  Please visit www.ahi-il.org/donate for more information.

The Sisters Weiss Book Review

I don't normally find the time to write long reviews about books now a days. However, this one requires that I write a review. Why? Because I finished it in 1 day. Granted I stayed up until 2am to finish it. IT WAS THAT GOOD!

At first I thought this was a true story, but it is historical fiction. However, the lives unveiled are so real that you honestly feel like you need to sit down at the computer and google them when you're done reading. The Author Naomi Ragen is truly a talented, gifted, inspired writer. I have read many historical fiction novels that got me thinking about my own life, and got me wishing that I could do more to help other cultures, other people, and give the world more peace and happiness.

However, this book got me thinking about what is really important to me. Do I, in my life right now, feel like I'm on the path to reach my full potential? Do I feel like what my passions for life are, are going to help others? Do I feel that my faith, my belief are strong enough to keep me going? Now, for those of you who don't consider yourselves religious, or of a certain faith, I honestly feel like you would enjoy reading this book. Not to say "Whew that's why I don't believe in a God, or that's why I don't go to church!", but rather to see that you do believe in something, yourself! People who are religious and have faith can also believe in themselves. That's what this book is about. That's what Rose Weiss teaches us.

Each person has to go through their own struggles in life to learn how to believe in themselves, even when it is really hard. I believe in God, I honestly feel that He is leading my life, and is helping me realize my true and full potential. Because when I try to do things without Him, everything crumbles apart. But that's just me, and that's how I feel Pearl Weiss was as an adult.

Though my heart broke for what these sweet, innocent women went through, I am grateful for how my life has turned out...and that I don't have their struggles and trials. They if they were real would probably not want my struggles and trials either.

I would buy this book and read it like once a year it's that good!

1 tbsp Vanilla Greek Yogurt

Cantaloupe Carrot Smoothie

Cantaloupe Carrot Smoothie
2 whole Cantaloupes (fresh)
2 cups of Aloe Juice
*Blend until smooth. (will be very thin)
2 cups of Carrots (steamed and cooled)
1 cup Sweet Potato/ Yam (cooked and steamed)
1 whole Banana (frozen)
*Blend until smooth. (will be very thick) Empty half this smoothie into a large pitcher that can be air tight when closed. Now into the half left in your blender add the following:
2 cups Peaches (fresh frozen)
1 cup Greek Yogurt (original)
1 cup Apple Sauce (unsweetened organic)
3 tbsp Flax Seed (organic ground)
2 scoops Chia Seeds (organic)
1/2 Banana (frozen)
*Blend until smooth and mixed well. Once you have blended this amount (which should be roughly 9 cups of smoothie) add it to the pitcher of the other smoothie. You'll notice that the saved smoothie will be carrot/ yam orange, and that this fuller mixture will be much lighter in color. Once you pour all the smoothie into the pitcher, stir it well with a long wooden spoon (or whatever you want to stir it with). The color will become a beautiful Cantaloupe orange color and taste amazing! This will be a very thick smoothie. As long as it is in an air tight container it will last 5-7 days before needing to be thrown out. However, if you freeze fresh smoothie that is another way to make large batches like this to stay fresh longer. This will make 14cups roughly of smoothie.

The Pounamu Prophecy Book Review

Have you ever discovered that life wasn't all that you thought it would be? Have you ever noticed that things seem to stay the same? Have you ever experienced that nothing good or bad seems to really faze your routine, your stamina, or your work ethic? Have you ever just stopped to think, to wonder, to try something new?

The Pounamu Prophecy is a book that not only captures your mind with the force of rushing river water; but it releases your soul and provides freedom to think. It follows the lives of 3 people; in which each person is faced with life crunching challenges, soul quenching agony, and mind blowing opportunities to see truth. Meet Mere a wonderful native of the Ngati Whatua tribe of Auckland, we get to experience her childhood memories of watching her village burn to the ground, of the government lie and break promises throughout her whole age of growing. We get to see what it took for this mighty Tribe to stay strong, and hope on.

What if your perspective on things changed when your raft you've been using to float through life suddenly rammed into giant boulders? What if your whole life turned upside down because the creek bed you have always been flowing down has suddenly dropped out into a waterfall? What if you were given the chance to make things change for the better? Would you? What if you were brought into the path of an enemy what would you do?

The Pounamu Prophecy is a book that clutches at the feelings within your soul, feelings you might not have known you would experience. It snatches and clings to the brightest thoughts within your mind like a thorny barb, which can become somewhat painful. This book follows the life that Helen and James have built for 5 years as a married couple. We are invited into intimate closeness to their inner struggles, their lack of communication as a couple, and their lack of vibrancy together.

I am loving this book. I will treasure it for a long time. I love Aussie Authors, of the handful that I have had the privilege of reading their works, their imagery, their passion, and their detailed fluency is impeccable. As a reader, I was drawn into the land, into the country, into the daily lives of these 3 very human, very weak and beautiful people's lives like they were friends I have known for a long time. I cried when they cried, I was frustrated when they were, I wanted to slap them across their faces and give them a good shake (because I felt like I could as a friend) at their stupidity and lack of hope, faith, and belief. That is how well written this wonderful little book is.

I want to quote the best part of the book: "No race is better than another; we are all human, capable of great evil and great good." pg. 186. You will see how hope breaks down barriers, how love transcends weakness and sin, and how truth and forgiveness are keys to a happy life. I highly recommend this book!

*To comply with the FTC regulations, I am clearly stating that I did receive a complimentary copy of this book through BookCrash in exchange for an honest, non biased review, to be posted on 2 different sites.

The Astronaut Wives Club Book Review

This is a very interesting topic to me, as I grew up in Houston Texas and was able to go visit the Houston Space center many times. I have very fond memories of going there, being able to experience zero gravity, seeing astronauts practice working in suits in a very large pool, and taking pictures with my family by many of the rockets on display.

I love books, movies, and documentaries that give an inside view point to a very historic event or program. This helped peak my interest since this book contains actual biographies of many intimate parts of the lives of the women who stood behind the men who became the USA's first Astronauts.

What I learned: I didn't know the history behind the Astronauts themselves. I didn't know what their history was, what training they had before becoming Astronauts. I learned more about why the Space Race was so important to the United States, I learned about the fame and glam of being apart of NASA when it was new.

What I want to know now: I would love to learn about the Russian view of their own Space program and Space Race. I'd love to learn about their failures, their successes as well. How did that country's treatment of their Astronauts and those families compare to how the US treated their own Astronauts. At the very end of the book, you can read about what some of the wives did after the Space Race was over, after their man was done with NASA. I would love to hear from the children of the Astronauts what they knew, how they felt, and what they experienced during that period of them growing up.

Dynamics of the book: I loved the images spread throughout the book showing the women the book was written about. I loved the quirky little details that were put into each woman's character. The small things: like what color dress they wanted, how they felt about their husband, and even how many kids they had; those little thing are what make them seem more human, more life like, rather than just another celebrity. Reading about how bold, and rude, and pretentious many of the press personnel, many of the paparazzi, and even many of the NASA officials treated these poor devoted women was eye opening and really tore at my heart for them. I was surprised at how different each group of Astronaut wives were, in the sense of how they took this lime light role, how they responded to each other's aid, and how they interacted with each other. I guess I just didn't realize how important competition was for the Astronauts and their wives and their families. What was just terrible in my mind was the fact that these men who had wonderful families and sweet wives who loved them, couldn't keep their marriage vows. There were so many husbands who committed adultery like it was nothing, and no one cared to help the wives deal with this horrible deed. That broke my heart.

Who did I relate to the most: I loved Annie the most, she seemed so sweet and honest. I loved that she had a stutter, and then eventually was able to over come that mortal weakness. I loved Betty's forward thinking, and her spunk. Harriet is a true hero, sticking up for her rights, being true to her kids, and living an amazing life after her divorce.

The Astronaut's Wives Club: was actually really disappointing to me. I would have thought they would have been more honest, and down to Earth with each other since they were all going through the same thing together. I would have loved to confide in someone who knew how I felt, what I was going through, and know that I could trust that shoulder when I needed a cry. I understand the need for appearing brave all the time, but keeping emotions, and fears bottled up inside because its taboo to reveal how you really feel is just an awful way to live. I can't believe those women felt that is how they had to live and act in such a special group.

When is Enough?

Recently at church I heard someone mention that there are many voices that we hear on a daily day to day basis.  He mentioned positive voices, excited voices, sad voices, angry voices, voices of reason and persuasion, voices of conflict and frustration, voices to distract us, voices to confuse us, voices to lead us and guide us.  There really are a lot of voices.  In my life as a SAHM, HSTM, and wife, I hear a lot of voices in my house.  My husband needs me, my kids need me, my house needs to be cleaned and organized and unpacked, the Lord needs me to help serve others and be a good steward over that with which He has blessed me with.  My family voices their concern, their love, their lack of understanding, their support, their hurt.  With teaching home school, my kids' voices are questions, needing help, needing clarity on a subject matter, needing a break, and asking when school is over.  My husband and I are trying to start a business, he has things he needs to talk about with work, hopes and dreams, and wonderful ideas, and even sometimes the needed venting.  I also hear my own voices telling me to work harder, eat healthier, exercise more, loose weight, clean the house better and more often, be more organized, sell or give away furniture that we don't need, get to know our new neighbors, have snacks available for our kids' new friends when they come and play.

What I have noticed is that there are some voices that are heard but were not mentioned are the voices that are so much harder to ignore, and tune out.  Those little voices who sometimes yell that we're not good enough.  I'm not a good enough wife because I can't keep my house clean, or that my kids aren't learning how to clean up after themselves fast enough.  I'm not a good enough teacher and my kids aren't learning what they need to in school.  I'm not a good enough wife because I don't know how to communicate my inner thoughts and feelings to my husband.  Those voices that say: "Yes, you have a degree in art, what are you going to do now? Nothing, because you aren't good enough!"  Voices that tell me my talents and hobbies, and the things that I am passionate about aren't good enough for people to buy (like so many of my friends get the privilege to do).  That my painting skills aren't special, people can go to a one night wine and art class and learn to paint a picture better than I can paint.  That my love to making jewelry isn't worth it, since no one is buying my jewelry.  That I'm not a good enough, classy enough, rich enough, smart enough, social enough person.  That even though I have stayed really healthy the majority of my life, because I lived a morally clean life, that even though I struggled as a mother, I was able to work with God and over come some major weaknesses I'm still not good enough to be able to have any more kids.  That because I'm not good enough, I've done something horribly wrong that I don't know or remember and so I'm destined to never be good enough.

These voices have filled my mind for so many years, I have fought against them, prayed to have them be silenced, begged for comfort to know if I'm enough as I am, filled multiple journals with my thoughts and feelings because talking about how these voices make me feel is impossible.  Some days it is so much easier to to just listen to these voices because after all maybe, just maybe what they are saying is true after all, but I've been in denial all these years.  Have you ever felt that even though you are blessed with a happy life, a great family, a good safe place to sleep, food to eat, and a knowledge of God, you aren't living up to your potential?  But, that no matter how hard you work, how much faith you have, how much hope to hoard, it's still not enough?

When is it enough?  When will I be enough?  When will what I have be good enough?  When will these voices be silent?  When will I be strong enough to over come these feelings?  When will I be able to overcome these voices?  How do I become enough?  How will I know that I'm enough?

So with those questions, do I feel like my life isn't happy?  No, I have a really happy life.  I love my husband, he's my best friend, we have a great marriage.  My two kids are the best thing that has happened to us.  I love them so much! I will do anything for them, constantly praying for them and their well-being as I do the same for my husband.  I love to serve others to help me keep a humble attitude.  I'm a pretty laid back person, who enjoys what life has to offer: good books, TV shows, health, fun, work, family, and friends.  I love the Lord and have a personal relationship with Him, I know He loves me and knows me personally.  Having this, helps me stay grounded, and anchored when trials and afflictions come into my life.  I understand that life will have those, and that is where I gain a lot of my appreciation for what I have been given.

But I will be honest, it's when those other voices, those Enough voices, when they speak longer, yell louder, and push harder that I see in my mind's eye how true their words are.  They are the ones that tell me that if I pursue a career or money through my talents that I would not be as good a mom, wife, and friend.  That I am being selfish because I want to change who I am.  But, it's true!

So when is enough?  When you say it is.  When you choose for it to be so.  When you decide to be done.  When you realize the truth.

Smoothie Art

Healthy living is sometimes really hard to keep up with as you go about your life.  Even though I stay at home with my kids, I don't always have the time to get everything done that I want to every day.  One of those things on my to do list is to make sure my kids eat lots of vegetables and fruit, but sometimes that doesn't always happen the way I want.  My kids love to eat apples, but when they eat 5 or more a day that up-sets their stomach.  So one thing I do is make smoothies, like a lot of them! With homeschooling my kids, my duties with church, Cub Scouts, and my volunteer work, on top of my responsibilities as a wife and mother I do not have time to make single serve smoothies all day long.  Each of us can and usually do have 2 smoothies a day.  So what I like to do, is make enough smoothie to last us 3 days before I have to make more.

Smoothie is something that goes rank quickly if not kept well.  I know, I've thrown smoothie cups away because what was growing in them was to gross to wash out.  Or those smoothie mixes that aren't so yummy tasting that even I will dump it into the garbage.  But I have figured out a few things, a few tips that I thought would be helpful to others.

I am going to be doing a smoothie session for the month of February and I would love to have you join me on this discovery of Smoothie Art. My Chia Seeds, Ground Flax Seeds are organic, and my Terra Greens come from doTerra.  It's a high concentrated blend of greens that when taken on a regular basis will give you a full serving of all the vegetables that you need in a day.

6. Flax Seeds                               6. Water
7. Apple juice                              7. Bananas
8. Secrete Ingredient

How I make my smoothies.  I am an artist at heart, so I color mix my smoothies to make them look delicious.  This means that I always start with the Green Smoothie base first.  I pour in 3 cups of apple juice first, then put in my secrete ingredient which for this smoothie was a cup of left over California mix vegetables. (Broccoli, Carrots, Cauliflower) Then I put in 2 large handfuls of kale and spinach.  I freeze most of my fresh ingredients so that I don't have to add ice to my smoothies.  Then I go ahead and blend this batch.  Once that's well blended I add in 1 heaping scoop of Terra Greens, 4 scoops of Chia Seeds, 4 spoonfuls of ground flax seeds, and half a handful of kale and spinach each.  Then I blend it up again.  Now I put this mixture into a large gallon drink picture. Now its time to start my Pink Smoothie Recipe.  I pour in 3 1/2 cups of ice cold water ( I used filtered water from my fridge).  Then I added 1 cup of strawberries, 1 cup of pineapples, 1 cup of mango, 1/2 cup peaches, and 1 and 1/2 bananas. I mix this all up.  And with this if it's looking a bit too thick I will add up to 1 full cup more of water.  Now comes my favorite part.  I will pour the Pink Smoothie into the center of the picture right into the center of the Green Smoothie.  Then I get a big wooden spoon and mix it all together.  This smoothie will turn a little bit brownish green in color.  Which means it's not going to be yummy looking, which is why I serve my kids' smoothie in opaque Darth Vader Smoothie cups, and my husband and I get transparent blue and red smoothie cups.

This is a super yummy smoothie despite the color.  The best part of it is that it will last up to 5 days in the fridge as long as it is sealed from the air.  So what I do is turn the lid to keep the air out of the picture. But this gallon amount of smoothie only lasts my family 3 days.

If you like this, stay tuned for next weeks smoothie!
