They Say Presentation is Everything

On May 23 we attended our second craft show.  It was at a convention center with 50 other vendors. It was really cool to experience. There were fun vendors like Damsel in Distress, Wrap It, Wreath Designs, Pampered Chef, and so many more.  There were only 3 vendors that were there selling hand crafted products.  We were one of those three hand crafted vendors.  It was so fun!  Each time we do a craft show we find better ways to brand our better.  My new favorite items for our booth: beach chairs for Gabby's ear cuffs, our wooden sunglasses "sale" signs, and our fun new fabric garland.
We both feel like these new items help make our booth more inviting.

What do you think makes craft show booths more inviting? What do you like to see in a craft show booth? Do you like hand crafted art pieces?  Do you like variety of colors and styles or each color and style separated?

Joseph's Fundraiser Products

This is pretty much a part two to Passing the Fishing Rod.  My son will be making earrings, paintings, and maybe a necklace or two.  And this blog post  is where we will keep a running selection of his products you can buy.

If you see the picture on this blog post then it is still available.  Please note that some of his earrings will be One-Of-A-Kind, and others will be Re-producible, meaning he can make more than one of the same style/pattern/ colors.

As a reminder, Joseph is making and selling these pieces of art to help him raise money to attend a Cub Scout Camp in June, and a Soccer camp in the fall.  See the Nautical Image above for pricing.  To pay please either Facebook Private Message me personally, or email me at sandglassesdesign@gmail.com to get our pay pal information.

Passing the Fishing Rod

I am so excited to share something very special with you.  My 8 year old son Joseph is one of my biggest fans with Sand Glasses Design, he loves watching me make the jewelry, and see me paint, and be creative.  He knows I'm scared to tell people and even to share with others.  He sees me work out those scared feelings and insecurities that I have and try to have courage and share with others what talents God has given me.  He sees me wanting to sell, but being more willing and open to just sharing.

Well this past weekend we did our chores like we normally do so our house will be clean and orderly for Sunday, and so that we can start our week off with a clean house.  This means our kids earn their allowance on chore day.  Things have been so crazy and busy lately that we haven't been doing a full chore day in a long time, so we pulled out all the stops and deep cleaned our home, not just the typical chores.  Our kids helped us mop, and dust baseboards, wash doors (our apartment door hinges leak rust because the bathrooms are so small.) etc.  They earned a double allowance that the chance to spend what they've been saving.

As my oldest was going through all this he was realizing that making 50 cents a week isn't cutting it on the goals he wants to save up for this summer.  So he asked me to learn how to make earrings.  And how to learn to make a necklace, and paint, and earn money from selling these items that he makes.

What a cool experience!  He is going to take over all my beads because he's so excited.  So to help him earn money to help him learn during this fun experience for him, I'm allowing him to make and sell items to help him pay for some special camps he wants to do this summer.  I'm passing the fishing rod onto him.  Instead of passing on the torch and not continuing myself, I'm passing him the fishing rod because like Jesus taught, it is better to teach a man to fish than to just give the hungry man a fish to eat.  That is what I'm doing for Joseph.

So here's what Joseph's plan is, and we're totally counting this for a school project and for Cub Scouts!

The money he earns from April-June will help him pay for Cub Scout Day Camp.  He needs $125.
The money he earns from July-September will help him pay for Soccer Camp.  He needs $150.
