Joseph's Fundraiser Products

This is pretty much a part two to Passing the Fishing Rod.  My son will be making earrings, paintings, and maybe a necklace or two.  And this blog post  is where we will keep a running selection of his products you can buy.

If you see the picture on this blog post then it is still available.  Please note that some of his earrings will be One-Of-A-Kind, and others will be Re-producible, meaning he can make more than one of the same style/pattern/ colors.

As a reminder, Joseph is making and selling these pieces of art to help him raise money to attend a Cub Scout Camp in June, and a Soccer camp in the fall.  See the Nautical Image above for pricing.  To pay please either Facebook Private Message me personally, or email me at sandglassesdesign@gmail.com to get our pay pal information.

Passing the Fishing Rod

I am so excited to share something very special with you.  My 8 year old son Joseph is one of my biggest fans with Sand Glasses Design, he loves watching me make the jewelry, and see me paint, and be creative.  He knows I'm scared to tell people and even to share with others.  He sees me work out those scared feelings and insecurities that I have and try to have courage and share with others what talents God has given me.  He sees me wanting to sell, but being more willing and open to just sharing.

Well this past weekend we did our chores like we normally do so our house will be clean and orderly for Sunday, and so that we can start our week off with a clean house.  This means our kids earn their allowance on chore day.  Things have been so crazy and busy lately that we haven't been doing a full chore day in a long time, so we pulled out all the stops and deep cleaned our home, not just the typical chores.  Our kids helped us mop, and dust baseboards, wash doors (our apartment door hinges leak rust because the bathrooms are so small.) etc.  They earned a double allowance that the chance to spend what they've been saving.

As my oldest was going through all this he was realizing that making 50 cents a week isn't cutting it on the goals he wants to save up for this summer.  So he asked me to learn how to make earrings.  And how to learn to make a necklace, and paint, and earn money from selling these items that he makes.

What a cool experience!  He is going to take over all my beads because he's so excited.  So to help him earn money to help him learn during this fun experience for him, I'm allowing him to make and sell items to help him pay for some special camps he wants to do this summer.  I'm passing the fishing rod onto him.  Instead of passing on the torch and not continuing myself, I'm passing him the fishing rod because like Jesus taught, it is better to teach a man to fish than to just give the hungry man a fish to eat.  That is what I'm doing for Joseph.

So here's what Joseph's plan is, and we're totally counting this for a school project and for Cub Scouts!

The money he earns from April-June will help him pay for Cub Scout Day Camp.  He needs $125.
The money he earns from July-September will help him pay for Soccer Camp.  He needs $150.

Social Media Marketing

Everyone now a days seems to care a ton about social media marketing.  SEO in particular.  You need social media marketing for blogging, businesses, etsy shops, and other types of internet groups.  I have been trying to figure out for a while now if I want to jump on board, and follow suit or try other ways to market our products.

After thinking more on this matter, I figured that I would stick with my whole goal which is to Bring a Bit of Beauty to Your Life.  I want to share what I have been able to create with others.  So I have decided to keep sharing and focus on sharing and see how this helps bless other's lives in the process.

So here are the links to my social media, we would love to have you share with others as we also share.  I also share through my Etsy shop, and this blog, Sand Glasses Wave.

Lemons and a Song

So since opening my shop, I have really had to try and remember that it is not the center of my life.  I also have to remember that I really don't want to focus on making money, because these are talents that God has given me, and I want to share them with the world.  Why???

Because what I do with them brings me a bit of beauty and enjoyment, so why not share beauty and enjoyment with others?  Even if they don't buy, they will have a beautiful picture to look at during the day, instead of something depressing, sad, hurtful.

As a home school teacher life can seem very isolated at times since I spend all day with my children, as their mother and their teacher.  So I really try hard to make school time fun, creative, and help encourage my children to learn to love to learn.  During one of our recent music classes, we checked out youtube for some fun uplifting songs for my kids to hear, and watch the videos.  We came across the singer Alex Boye'; he has the most amazing voice and best uplifting music videos.  We found a new-ish one by him Lemonade.  Want to see his music video about Lemonade?  Follow this LINK to another post on my blog.

This song has become my life song right now as I see so many people needing God's blessings and prayers on their behalf.  So if life gives you Lemons make Lemonade, drink it and share it with others.  Because life is worth living, life is worth sharing, and lemonade usually brings smiles and laughter to people because of its sweet and tangy taste.

So I dedicate a new painting to Lemonade! Enjoy!

Lemonade - Alex Boye'

This is one of my new favorite songs, check out my post about why!
